Uses of Tretinoin Cream
- A number of side effects are associated with using Tretinoin cream. Some of these side effects include dry skin, burning, peeling, redness, itching, and irritation of the affected area. These side effects are generally not severe and usually clear up within a few days of application. The above side effects are very rare and do not affect a large amount of users.
- Unfortunately, a number of severe side effects are associated with using the medication. Some of these side effects include unusual darkening of the skin at the application site, excessive redness and puffiness, blistering, and crusting of the skin. If any of these side effects become unbearable, contact your physician immediately. These side effects are also very rare and only affect a small amount of users.
- It is important to avoid direct sunlight or artificial tanning booths while taking this medication as it can cause severe sunburn or sun poisoning in users. Use a minimum of SPF 15 at all times throughout the course of your treatment if you are going to be outdoors. The medication should be applied once per day to the affected area in the evening. You may apply cosmetics over the cream once it has dried, however make sure the area is clean before applying the medication.
- Always use this medication in direct conjunction with your doctor's orders and never in dosages larger than what has been written on the label. Tretinoin cream is administered topically and should be applied evenly to the affected area until it has been thoroughly rubbed into the skin. Wash your face 20-30 minutes before applying the cream to ensure optimal cleanliness. If the cream causes your skin to become too dry, apply a petroleum jelly or facial cream after the medication has been applied.
