How to Compute Statistical Mean
- 1). Count the number of numbers in the group. For example, if you wanted to find the average of 8, 11, 3, 5 and 9, you would have five numbers.
- 2). Add the numbers in the group together to find the total. In this example, add up 8, 11, 3, 5 and 9 to get 36.
- 3). Divide the total by the number of numbers in the group to find the statistical mean. In this example, divide 36 by 5 to get 7.2.
