How to Protect the Base of a Mailbox Post From Weed Whacking

    • 1). Spray a chemical weed killer around the base of your mailbox to kill off any weeds in that area. This will eliminate the need for a weed whacker to go near the post of your mailbox.

    • 2). Wrap a protective cover, such as a sheet of brass or rubber, around the bottom of the post and screw it in place. This will provide armor against a weed whacker attack.

    • 3). Place bricks or a tire in the area around your mailbox. This will make it harder for weeds to grow in the area and also make it harder for a weed whacker to get near the post.
