Favourable Panamanian Real Estate Investment Laws - 14 April, 2011

Property for sale in Panama is a favourable option for real estate investment for several reasons: perfect climate, peaceful location, good economy, and favourable real estate investment laws, especially for overseas investors. Property in Panama, purchased for investment by overseas investors, is protected with the same rights granted citizens of Panama by what is known as Law 54.

Law 54 reads, in part, Foreign investors and the enterprises in which they participate, have the same rights and duties as national investors and enterprises, with no other limitation than those established in the Political Constitution and the law, including those that refer to the freedom of trade and industry, and export and import. Furthermore, the freedom to dispose of the profits obtained in their investments, the freedom to repatriate their capital, dividends, interest and profits produced by their investments and the freedom to commercialize their production is guaranteed hereby to said investors. Property rights for investors have no limitations other than those established by the Political Constitution and the law.

Several visa regulations will allow you to easily enter and leave the country, should you choose to invest. The Panamanian government offers the following:
Temporary Visitors Visas, good for 1-5 years
Special Temporary Visitors Visa, good for 1 year
Pensioned Tourist Visa, or
Immigrants Visa, good for anywhere from one year to permanent residency

In addition, home countries often offer tax incentives to Panama property investors, even those who invest overseas. Panama is a trending market for investors looking to purchase assets for residential, commercial, industrial or tourism-related investment. As a growing retiree destination, pensioners from Europe, Canada and the United States are beginning to make their way here, where they can enjoy the sunshine, low cost of living, and easy lifestyle. Many are looking for age-restricted communities where much of the maintenance is done for them, or hotels for their pre-purchase visits. Both of these markets are underdeveloped in Panama, which means profits await the person who invests in this underdeveloped market for Panama property.

Besides all the favourable laws, transportation to and within Panama is easy, fast, and inexpensive. Direct flights to Panama City are available from almost every major worldwide hub. This will make it easy to stay on top of your Panamanian investment, or even seek out new opportunities. Many people begin with business trips to Panama, and end up purchasing their own piece of paradise as a retirement location.
