What"s So Great About Family Travel Insurance?

Summer is here! Now is the perfect time to go on a family holiday somewhere warm and sunny.
But whether you are going to stay on British soil and hit one of the classic holiday hotspots, or planning a trip to Europe to take in all the delights of the Mediterranean, you should remember to invest in family travel insurance before you go.
Family travel insurance gives you an extra level of protection should you need it in the case of something going awry.
Of course, we're not suggesting you should expect things to go wrong when you go on holiday, but it is always best to have your family and belongings covered for your own peace of mind.
That way, you won't have any heartache or be out of pocket should you have to cancel your trip, go to the doctor while abroad, or if your luggage decides to take a holiday of its own.
Cancelling your trip Sometimes unforeseen things happen, and there is no way around the unfortunate fact that you may need to cancel a planned trip with your family.
Travel insurance will be there to help cover costs if and when those eventualities arise.
This is an important safeguard, and although you certainly should not plan your trip as if it might be cancelled, whether by 'acts of God', terrorism or other, more personal circumstances, it is always good to know that will be covered just in case.
Illness It's no fun to fall ill or meet with an accident while on a holiday with your family.
Travel insurance, however, will help make things a bit more bearable when it comes to the cost of medical bills and doctors' fees while abroad.
Do prepare by making sure you have packed all things you need to maintain your health, along with any prescriptions you may need.
But in addition, you need to know you can visit a doctor's office in a foreign country, or visit the A&E (let's hope you don't need to) without facing a mammoth bill when you return home.
Lost luggage We all love a good holiday, right? But this sometimes includes your luggage taking a side trip of its own! While this is certainly not an ideal, if you have family travel insurance, you will be covered for the value of your luggage and will be able to get replacement clothing while waiting for your luggage to arrive.
A word of advice, though: just to be on the safe side, don't pack valuables in your checked luggage.
