    Remove Dust Mites Naturally

    • 1). Add several drops of eucalyptus oil to 1/4 cup of laundry detergent. Launder bedding, draperies and curtains with the mixture in the hottest water temperature allowed for that specific type of fabric.

    • 2). Fill a spray bottle with 30 drops of eucalyptus oil and 1 cup of vodka. Swirl the bottle gentle in a circular motion to mix the vodka and oil together.

    • 3). Liberally spray pillows, bedding, curtains, upholstery and carpets with the mixture. Let the mixture air-dry on the item. Repeat the process several times a week.

    Prevent Dust Mites from Returning

    • 1). Clean your home to remove dust mites without chemicals. Use a damp rag to clean fan blades, shelves, walls, picture frames, baseboards and other items dust can collect on. Start with the highest item and work your way down.

    • 2). Vacuum you carpet and upholstery at least once a week. Use a vacuum that features a HEPA filter to remove dust mites and other air impurities.

    • 3). Keep the temperature in your home below 70 degrees. Dust mites thrive in humid and warm climates. By lowering your home's temperature, you will be creating an unpleasant living environment for the mites. Furthermore, run a dehumidifier in your home. Dehumidifier help reduce moisture and lower the humidity level in your home's air.

    • 4). Hang blankets, comforters and pillows outside on a warm, sunny day for several hours. Dust mites are not fond of sunlight. Beat the pillows with a broom handle to remove debris and dust mites.
