Simple Ways to Prosperity
- One of the most significant investments to make in life involves your education. This process does not end with a college degree, however; college is only the beginning. Place a higher priority on education than entertainment, which means borrowing some of the money used for fun and allocating it toward seminars, workshops and books to help you become more prosperous. If you invest wisely, all the money and time spent on education will come back to you tenfold.
- You have to give a little if you expect to get anything back. Prosperity is more than simply building wealth; it also has a way of finding those who are happy, positive people, if only because they know where to look for it. Charitable donations don't need to be massive amounts, either. Success Magazine suggests giving away small denominations here and there to boost the well-being of yourself and others. Your own happiness will help you considerably along the road to prosperity.
- Make an effort to set realistic, controllable goals financially to keep yourself motivated. Choosing a goal that involves you receiving a raise at work, for example, is risky because you are not able to fulfill this on your own. Instead, decide on exact figures for how much you want in your savings account at certain time periods, and how much of your profits you want to invest. Gradually raise your standards over time as you meet your goals so you are constantly reaching for more without hurting your morale by experiencing constant failure.
- Don't force yourself to take money out of your paycheck to put into a savings account. This is a painful process, and one that you are likely to skip if you have to do it yourself. If you set up automatic transfers -- a portion of each paycheck -- to a savings account, the money was never there in the first place. Max out your 401k contributions at work, have your company transfer directly to a Roth IRA account or set up a high-interest account at your bank.
