How to Install a Bike Trailer
- 1). Place your bike on a bike stand or lean it on the kickstand or up against the wall so that it remains motionless while you install your trailer.
- 2). Detach the quick-release mechanism from the back wheel. Open the lever and spin to loosen, then pull the peg out of the wheel.
- 3). Place the quick-release peg through the hole on the side plate of the hitch and back through the dropout hole on your bike.Tighten the quick-release mechanism back-up.
- 4). Slide the tow bar into the hitch. Align the holes in the tow bar squarely with the holes in the top and bottom of the hitch.
- 5). Slide the pin through all the holes and fold over the spring-loaded clip at the bottom to fasten.
- 6). Close the lever on your quick-release mechanism so it points toward the back of your bike. It should be completely tight. Wrap the safety strap around the bar to the inside of the chain stay and fasten the hook back onto the ring on the tow bar.
- 7). Take your bike off the stand and go for a ride with your new trailer.
