Why Donate Cars to Help Charities?
- Donating your vehicle help other individuals in your community. Most charities are not picky and take any vehicle you are willing to give, which is not always true with car dealerships and other locations where you can sell a used car.
- If you are looking to save money on your taxes, donating a car can reduce your tax bill. When you donate, you are given a receipt for the trade-in value of your vehicle. This most likely is going to be several thousand dollars, which may trim your tax bill or increase your refund.
- Over time, you may have built in a collection of vehicles, some of which you just don't use any more. If you donate one of the cars that is just collecting dust, you may finally have room in your garage for a new toy you've had your eye on.
- Most charities that accept car donations pick up the vehicle from you, free of charge. Even if the car doesn't run, the charity will pick it up. Some car dealerships do accept trade-in of vehicles that do not run (although you aren't going to receive much for it), but you have to tow the car in yourself. The price for this service not be worth it compared to the price the dealership may give you as a trade-in.
