Is Actos Responsible for My Bladder Cancer

The French National Health Insurance Plan conducted a study (2006-2009) to determine if there was any validity to the claims that Actos was responsible for significantly increasing the risk of bladder cancer.  They concluded that there was a significant increase in the risk of bladder cancer for those who took Actos.  Further, they found positive correlation between bladder cancer and the dosage and duration of use.  Patients who took Actos for 24 months were at a significantly higher risk of bladder cancer than those who took Actos for 12 month.  And those who took Actos for 12 months were at a significantly higher risk of bladder cancer than those who have never taken the drug.  While this correlation was not as significant in woman it did exist in a few cases.

The FDA is still evaluating these findings and others but has already seen enough evidence to issue a safety alert.  They alerted the public that Actos may be associated with an increased risk of bladder cancer.  They forced the manufacturer, Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., to revise their 'Warnings and Precautions' section in the labeling.  And finally, the FDA declared revisions must be made to the patient Medication Guide to include information for increased risk of bladder cancer.

Did Actos cause your bladder cancer?  Quite possibly.  But there is no way to know for sure without some patient specific information.  Send our Actos Lawyers an email with as much information as possible about your individual situation and we can let you know within 24 hours if Actos was likely responsible.  At that point you can decide if you would like to be compensated for all the pain you and your family have been put through.  There is a good chance that the manufacturer of Actos under-reported the serious adverse effects of Actos, placing sales and profit ahead of your safety.  If we find this to be the case, they need to be held responsible.

If you are a current or former patient of Actos and are concerned for your health please speak with your physician.  Possible early warning signs may include painful urination, urinary tract infection, blood in urine, frequent urination, and/or pain in the lower back or abdomen.
