Ideas for an Easter Bonnet

    Doily Bonnets

    • This Easter bonnet idea makes a fun craft for mothers and daughters to share. Cut a large circle out of white poster board, about 2 to 3 feet in diameter. You'll need a large doily and some smaller size doilies in a variety of spring colors. Cover the paper cutout with the largest doily first, then the smaller ones on top. Use some wide silk ribbon about 1 yard in length and center it over the doily hat. Glue some silk flowers like roses at the top of the bonnet. That will cover up your glue works. Invite some friends over to make this craft with you. You can take pictures and have an Easter parade afterward.

    Edible Bonnets

    • An edible bonnet made of delicious Easter candies would be quite a conversation starter. Start with solid hat for a base, like a straw hat for example. Around the edges of the bonnet glue chocolate foiled wrapped Easter eggs. You could surround the center band of the hat with Marshmallow Peeps shaped like baby chicks. Choose bright colored peeps of yellow, pink and purple. Fill in any empty spaces with decorative Easter ribbons and flowers. To make your hat a real bonnet, you'll need to add a long length of ribbon, centering it over the hat. Glue it in place. Or you could just glue two equal lengths of ribbon to each underside of the hat. You've got an edible Easter bonnet.

    Birdie Bonnet

    • Make a birdie bonnet by using some bird inspiration. Visit your local craft store and buy some bird materials. You could pick up a small bird's nest, some little bluebirds, and even some bluebird's eggs. Choose a light blue ribbon to add to the hat. Peruse your yard for small twigs and branches to use on your bonnet. It's best to use a white straw hat for this craft. Arrange the bird's nest, and other birds items around the hat. Glue the ribbon to the hat when you are done. Glue two pieces of ribbon to the underside of the hat, one on each side of your hat. Tie them together in a sweet ribbon under your chin.
