- 1). Practice pitching the tent, and measure how much additional space is needed to comfortably work around it.
- 2). Search for a flat area large enough for the tent's dimensions and the projected working space. Avoid ant hills. Check the ground for firmness. Drive a test peg into the ground and make sure it's secure. Before pitching, clear any debris from the site. If wind is a factor, find a location that has natural shelter (tree cover, enclosed valley, earth or rock buildup).
- 3). Unpack the tent and all supplies. Unfurl the tent body and spread it over the ground where it will be set up. Loop the poles into the tent body. If windy, place weights along the tent's edges.
- 4). Stretch the tent body out to remove any folds or wrinkles. Find the peg holes located around the edge of the tent body. Drive the pegs into position.
- 5). Test the firmness of each peg, then raise the tent body. Make sure the poles are engaged and firmly set.
