- 1). Avoid letting your kids bounce up and down on the bed. The constant jumping action could damage the springs of your mattress, which will shorten its lifespan.
- 2). Cover the king-sized bed with a king-sized mattress protector. A mattress protector helps extend the life of the mattress by protecting it from stains, locking out bed bugs and eliminating allergens. It can enclose the whole mattress or just cover the top part. Purchase a waterproof mattress cover if you have a toddler who sleeps in your bed, or an elderly person who is incontinent.
- 3). Flip the mattress every two to three months. Flipping it helps even out the wear and tear of the mattress.
- 4). Rotate the box spring every six months.
