The Power of Leverage is Key in Business
First let's dive in to what leverage actually means?
Definition from the Business Dictionary: Ability to influence a system, or an environment, in a way that multiplies the outcome of one's efforts without a corresponding increase in the consumption of resources. In other words, leverage is an advantageous-condition of having a relatively small amount of cost to yield a relatively high level of returns. Thus, "doing a lot with a little."
I like that, doing a lot with a little! Most people never achieve the success they desire in their business because they don't take advantage of the power of leverage. One of the very first things I was taught about the network marketing industry is it all about leverage. I have learned now through my years of experience that in any business model to really have success you must implement leverage. Let me break down 3 key focuses of leverage:
The first one is OPT= Other People's Time
Imagine having 50 other people that do exactly what you do and you make a small percentage from those people? Now that is some leverage! I use my network marketing business model to leverage my time. Your time is most valuable and how you spend it has a huge impact in business. You want to be able to spend your time focusing on the things that you can only do. The second one is OPM= Other People's Money
It makes me sad when people say they don't have a few hundred bucks to start up their OWN business that has the potential of creating a 6-figure income in less than a year!! The way we have been influenced to be scared to take a new direction in investing in ourselves is sad. People have lost their beliefs in themselves and in their life. When I first started my business years ago, I did not have the money. I had to reach out and tap into other resources to be able to start my business. I could have made up all sorts of reasons to not get started, but I saw a vision, a vision of what I wanted and how I wanted to live my life. I also saw the vision of what it would be like to continue to do what I was currently doing, and I didn't like it! I knew I HAD to leverage my resources.
If you know you need to change your situation or the direction in life, get after it! Success will always find someone else who is ready to do the job and you will be sitting back angry at yourself while you watch it pass you by.
This is when you fall into that negative mindset. Everything you do attracts more negativity. Believe me I have been there in life. You feel trapped and hopeless. Perhaps you turn to food or other substances to turn your mind. This is a road never has a good ending and most get so buried it hard to dig yourself out. TODAY is the Day, NOW is the moment, that you choose what "Story" you're going to live by. We are the "producers, directors, and the star actors" in the story of our life. We must decide not to be a victim!
The third leverage I want to share is OPR= Other People's Resources
This has to be the strongest of them all. These are tools, communities, systems and programs that are available to you. With the power of the internet and social media you can tap into other people's resources that have experience, success and proven systems. The great thing about today's entrepreneur's is that they are all about sharing their knowledge and helping other people along in their mission. All you have to do is connect with one person via social media and you have access to their entire network! I have met some of the most amazing people from all around the world via social media. I would not have the opportunities or be on the path I am today without tapping into like minded and successful people thriving to grow together. I am truly blessed to have the community that I do. Without leverage, I would never have not.
It has taken me a long time to have understand how this all works. One of the hardest skills I have been learning to master, but one of the greatest rewards which is time freedom.
