Waste King SS8000 Versus Waste King 8000
- The Waste King Legend Series 8000 and the Waste King Gourmet Series SS8000 have few differences. In fact, according to AMC, "The only difference between our old Waste King Gourmet and our new Waste King Legend is the color and label. Other than that the units are exactly the same." The SS8000 Gourmet Series featured a tan-colored frame and a gold and silver-colored label; the 8000 Legend Series features a gray-colored frame and a white and red-colored label.
Another important difference is that the Gourmet Series is no longer produced, and the Legend Series is. - The 8000 and SS8000 feature a one-horsepower motor, with a motor speed of 2,800 rpm. The voltage for either unit is 115 V. Both models also have a 60 Hz rating and a 7.0 current-amps rating. The motor uses a permanent magnet design and the stopper features a positive seal. Both units feature a removable splash elbow as well as an ABS waste elbow. The feed type is continuous and the overload protector uses a manual reset system.
- For both the SS8000 and 8000, the grind ring, swivel impellers and turntable are all made of stainless steel. The hopper features a glass-filled nylon design, and the grinding chamber uses a corrosion proof design made of glass-filled polyester. The bearings utilize a permanently lubricated system, and a sleeve type design. In order to decrease operating sounds, both units sport a full sound shell. The approximate shipping weight for either unit is 15 lbs. The total height of the unit is 16.06 inches and the width is 8.5 inches.
- Both the SS8000 and the 8000 feature a Lifetime In-Home Service Warranty, as well as a Lifetime Corrosion Warranty. Both models come with the Waste King EZ Mount system, which allows for easier integration of the unit onto kitchen sinks. For properly sized septic tanks, the units boast a septic system-safe design.
