How to Unlock Motorola Phones
- 1). Remove the battery of the phone. Copy the 15-digit IMEI number from the sticker concealed underneath the phone battery. Alternatively, key "*#06#" into the phone to display the IMEI number on the handset display. Take a note of the IMEI number.
- 2). Contact your network provider customer service department. Ask if it's possible to have the unlock code for your phone model, providing the representative with the IMEI number and contract details on the phone, including make and model. The representative will email you the unlock code and directions to enter it in your Motorola phone. If he refuses to unlock the phone, then you can unlock it by obtaining the code from an online source.
- 3). Buy a code from an online unlock code service such as Moto Unlock Now, Unlocking, and GSM Liberty (see Resources), some offering free services, some paid. Compare sites and products for the best deal you can find. Navigate to the website of your choice.
- 4). Input the Motorola phone's model number, IMEI number and details of the network and country into the appropriate fields on the website. Follow the instructions to pay for the code if necessary. The service will email you the code within a specified time.
- 5). Switch off the Motorola handset. Remove the old network SIM. Switch the phone on. Follow the specific instructions for your model of phone, provided by the unlock company to enter the unlock code into the phone and enable it to use any SIM.
