Norfolk Is a Popular Destination for Artists

The picturesque landscapes of Norfolk are a magnet for artists.
Some are more serious than others, though many are there painting for pleasure in the great outdoors and enjoying the warming rays of summer sunshine while they work with their brushes and water colours.
By staying in one of the North Norfolk hotels, artists can enjoy the proximity to the coast where there are many famous and stunning views to capture on canvas.
That may be the beach at Cromer with the delightful pier as a backdrop or the marshes at Cley-next-the-Sea.
There, you can find one of the great Norfolk views - Cley windmill towering above the marshes.
It is one of the most painted scenes in the county and also popular with photographers.
With several Norfolk luxury hotels in the area, many painters combine the opportu-nity to enjoy their hobby with the chance to stay in first class accommodation and enjoy the superb food on offer.
The quality of the food is a recurring theme in Norfolk and many of the hotels North Norfolk has will have a good restaurant.
But there are many other classic scenes that are worth capturing in Norfolk such as the landscape of the Broads with its wonderful waterways that teem with wildlife against a natural backdrop of reeds, trees and banks.
With a good selection of Norfolk hotels in and around the Broads, there is rarely any difficulty finding somewhere to stay.
Another alternative is to take a Broads holiday for a week and hire a cruiser.
What better way of painting Norfolk than from the stern of a motor cruiser? Seeing Norfolk from the Broads can prove to be a truly relaxing vacation and it is easy to motor from one mooring to another and there are plenty of waterside pubs along the way.
If sailing and the water appeals, and you love to paint, there are few finer destinations than the wonderful harbours at Blakeney or Brancaster where you can spend hours watching, or capturing, the view on a lovely summer's day.
Yet winter also has its attractions for painters, with stunning open skies and magnificent chilly terrain.
