How to Make Skateboards Turn Better
- 1). Install a riser plate. The hangers are attached with four bolts which can be unscrewed using a wrench and spanner, allowing the installation of a riser plate between the hanger and the board. Increasing the distance between the board and the wheels using the riser allows for harder carves and sharper turns.
- 2). Install hangers that have a higher pivot angle. The larger the pivot angle the more a board will turn when you lean into a curve.
- 3). Install hangers which have a thinner wheel base. The wider set the wheels are the more you have to lean into a carve to make the board turn.
- 4). Replace the wheels on the board with a smaller pair of wheels to allow the board to carve harder without pressing down on the wheels.
- 5). Sand the section of the board aligned over the wheels to create a wheel well, allowing for harder carves and better turns.
- 6). Loosen the kingpin, the bolt extending up at an angle and emerging near the axle, on the front and rear hangers. Loosening the kingpin makes the trucks rotate more, so your leans create more turn for the board.
