How to Look Up All Lawsuits Filed Against Safeway Grocery
- 1). Determine which jurisdiction you want to research any lawsuit filings against Safeway. As each state and the federal government all maintain separate court records systems you will need to conduct a search in each system.
- 2). Log in to the U.S. Court's PACER system from a computer and register for an account by providing your name, address, e-mail address and credit-card information.
- 3). Click on the "PACER Case Locator" button and enter "Safeway" in the party field and click the search button. The results report will list all cases in the U.S. federal court's database with Safeway listed as a party. The cases with Safeway listed as a defendant are ones filed against the company, the cases listed with Safeway as a plaintiff are ones filed by the company against another party.
- 4). Search for a state's court document system using a search engine and select the state's court records database from the results.
- 5). Read the instructions for each state database for searching the name of a business entity as a party in proceedings before the court. Enter "Safeway" as a search term pursuant to the court's database instructions.
- 6). Access an online commercial legal research service such as Westlaw or Lexis and create an account for a fee. Select the legal research database for all federal and state courts and enter the search "Safeway" in the search box. The results will show all cases in which Safeway was a party that have had written decisions issued by a court. This database will not show active court cases.
