How to Break Your Phone Contract With AT&T
- 1). Dial "611" from your cell phone or 1-800-331-0500 from any other phone to reach AT&T customer service.
- 2). Follow the prompts to be connected to someone or press "0" to be connected to a representative right away.
- 3). Explain to the representative that you wish to cancel your AT&T wireless service. The representative may ask you why you wish to cancel the service and will ask you for personal and account information to confirm that you are authorized to cancel the account. You will also be informed of your early termination fee. For certain phones and netbooks the termination fee is $325 minus $10 for each month you were under contract (see Resources). For all other phones, it is $150 less $4 for each month you were under contract.
- 4). Confirm all the information with the representative and agree to the termination fees, and your service will be terminated. You will be billed by mail for the fees.
