New Job Openings for Graduates UK in 2014

It's time to cheer for the graduates in the UK. According to the latest news, job hiring for graduates in both the public and private sector of the UK is expected to increase by 10.2% this year. The IT, telecom and banking industries will increase their hiring of fresh graduates at UK universities by 40%.

€The double digit rise is certainly good news, but the graduates must be aware of what employers are looking for€, says Stephen Isherwood, the chief of AGR (Association of Graduate Recruiters)

AGR conducted a survey for university leavers of 2014 and reveals that the number of placements will increase tremendously this year until 2015.

Compared to last year, the public sector UK will boost hiring by a whopping 20%, followed by energy, water and utilities showing rise of 17.5%, and banking and finance services up 15.7% than the present year.

But the number of job openings in law and investment banking arena are predicted to go down this year, says the survey.

€With a upsurge in the UK economy and a slight boost in graduate job vacancies noted last year, we are anticipating employers' to be more optimistic for the current year as well as near future. And thus a predicted boost of 10% is quite welcoming news€, says Isherwood

€However, graduates must remain focused if they want to obtain success in their career. There were many reports saying job vacancies couldn't get filled due to lack of candidates who have the right blend of required skills and attributes. And thus graduates must be more cautious for their job application and they should make sure they understand what the potential employers are looking for. €, added Isherwood

The survey, which involved 202 members of AGR from 19 different industries, also reveal that school leaver programs are growing in popularity with premier companies.

Around 54.7% of AGR members, more than half of the total numbers of members, who usually recruit university graduates, are providing job opportunities to school leavers. Going further, an additional 4% members too are thinking of announcing these types of roles in the next hiring round of a 2014-15 recruitment year. And 15% of the AGR members said they hope to introduce such roles in the near future.

However the job opening for school leavers are certainly not on the cost of job opportunities of university graduates, says the poll result. The employers who were interviewed in the above survey have denied that they are thinking of hiring fewer university graduates to offer some opening to school leavers.

€These days, UK firms are investing in many different programs to attract and hire youth for various roles in their businesses.€ said Isherwood

According to David Willetts, the Universities Minister, The boost in the number of graduate vacancies hints at the upswing of the UK economy and reveals the fact that the firms really value the skills the UK's outstanding graduates can bring to their businesses.
