- 1). Clarify the reason that led to your being laid off. If you were let go not because of any fault of your own but rather because your department was forced to downsize, explain that as the reason you were laid off. Companies all over America have had to recalibrate their goals and financial obligations. This has forced many to lay people off. This is a point that a potential employer will recognize and understand.
- 2). Justify your explanation of being laid off by explaining that this has never happened to you in your work experience before and that it was a shock to you.
- 3). Explain your desire to overcome being laid off and to secure a new challenge and position in the work force. List the reasons you would be a good candidate for the job.
