Scary Halloween Costume Ideas for Boys

    Mummy

    • Gather up some old white sheets, makeup and gauze. Apply the makeup first onto your boy's skin. First give his face a pure white foundation with oil-based makeup. Then, add in a touch of black, mixing it in with the white to create a general gray color on his face. Add some nips and cuts with the same black face paint, as well as stitches to the lips and black, sunken eyes to make him look like a dried up old mummy. Wrap his head with gauze, covering everything but his face. Then, take strips of white sheet and wrap them around the entirety of his body, leaving some fringe here and there.

    Headless

    • Gather a long-sleeved shirt that's about 6 inches taller than the boy. Make the torso (including the shoulders and neck) of the person whose head has fallen off by shaping out a large piece of polystyrene using a utility knife. Stick two plastic stakes on either side of the finished piece and attach them to the back of a knapsack. When ready to go out, have the boy wear the knapsack, then place the shirt over the fake torso. Cut out a hole for the boy's head to fit through wherever his head is positioned beneath the shirt. Stuff the arms of the long-sleeved shirt, as well as some gloves. Attach the gloves to the end of the sleeves with safety pins. Safety pin one arm directly below the boy's head so it looks like the hand is holding the boy's head up. Use makeup to add blood to the boy's neck and paint his face in white.

    Ghost

    • Dress your boy in all white clothing to start. Tease his hair up from the crown and spray it with hairspray. Then, use colored spray to spray his hair white. Put on his makeup, a solid white foundation mixed with a bit of purple and green along the sides of his face. Drape layers of shredded and torn cheesecloth from his shoulders. To make the costume extra scary, give the boy one horrible gash mark on his body, perhaps on the face or stomach.

    Scary Clown

    • Assemble your scary clown outfit by gathering up some colorful silk shirts and a bright pair of trousers. Use papier mache to make the toes of a regular pair of sneakers extend to the size of a clown shoe. Simply make a mold using newspaper and a glue-water solution, then let it dry and paint it red. Attach it to old shoes using super glue. The makeup is the most important part. You want to give the boy the regular white foundation with red orb cheeks and a wide smile, but add speckles of blood to his face. Give him a set of fake teeth, and line the veins on his temples with a purple liner. Once he has his wig on, he's set to frighten the trick-or-treaters.
