Why Do All Politicians Talk About Their Faith
It is amazing that here we are in the middle of election season and we have politicians talking about their faith on Television, but why? There is a separation of church and state and it is a non-issue, it is therefore irrelevant and if anyone tries to play that card they are dismissing our constitution or rather avoiding the subject.
Recently on Television I watched a debate of a couple gentlemen in Tennessee running for office; US Congressional seat.
Each one made mention that they believed in God and mentioned church leaders and actual religions that they had discussed issues with in the days before the debate? Totally irrelevant and this should not be one religion against another.
No one is accusing either man of lacking moral clarity, they are politicians, they probably have none anyway.
You have to be pragmatic in your beliefs to be a politician these days anyway.
Too often we have religious leaders on TV being asked about political decision.
Again irrelevant, as their judgment of an issue is worth no more than a gentleman on the commuter train on his way to work.
Interview him for gods sake? Why do all Politicians Talk about their Faith? Is it back to that famous line; You can trust me, I am a Christian? What's the difference between that and you can trust me, I am a religious fundamentalist Islamic Cleric? There is no difference, other than it is a different religion with the same goals; power to control over the people.
Quite frankly, I do not like where this is all going and it is rather disturbing.
Thomas Jefferson would have had a problem with all this? Or don't you care? Perhaps you will consider all this in 2006.
