One of the widely seen home accidents is when we drop the hot iron on the carpet. Depending on the situation we could see at least three different types of damage. First, if we act quickly and let the iron stays there for a second or so. Sometimes the iron is not very hot and it leaves just scorch marks, so the fibers are not burnt at all. How to Fix Burnt Carpet
First of all, you have to get some more tools and products for this job. Find utility knife, any matching carpet piece, a heavy book, paper and carpet adhesive (double sided carpet tape will do as well). Again vacuum thoroughly and clean your work area. Now use the utility knife to cut very gently the burnt section of the carpet. Make sure to cut deep enough and reach through the carpet backing, but at the same time, you should not damage the padding, which is underneath. Substitute the old damaged piece with your new one, but ensure that the patterns match. Don't forget to take the exact measures for the area and fit your new carpet scrap. Then you have to apply the adhesive or double-sided tape on the open spot. Afterwards, simply put the new piece of carpet and line it up. Use the book to press it firmly and keep it in one place. Wait for at least 8 hours before using the carpet.
