How to Make a Pet Rat Hammock

It is very easy to make your rat his own hammock.
All you need to do is to get a large piece of soft, fleecy material.
This could be bought from a material shop very cheaply, or could even be from an old jumper or blanket.
Cut a square of the fleecy material.
The size will depend on the size of your rats, but generally it is good to go for a larger size than necessary, so that your rat can really relax.
An average size rat could have a nice large hammock using these dimensions: 30 x 38 cm (12 x 15") A very big rat could have an extra large hammock using these dimensions: 38 x 45 cm (15 x 18").
This size would also be good for ferrets.
You then need to make a hole in each of the four corners of the material.
Through these holes you can thread a sturdy piece of string and tie it onto the cage roof, or corner of the cage.
When it is all secure place your rat into the hammock with some soothing words of encouragement.
You will soon find that every time you look in the cage your rats are all piled up in the hammock snoozing away.
Of course if you do not feel like making a hammock it is just as easy to buy one.
They are available from most good pet stores as well as online.
They come in all kinds of shapes and colours and your rats will be sure to love them.
Why not make a hammock today.
Your rat will thank you for it.
