The Instructions for Completing a Release of Lien on Property
- 1). Prepare a certificate of satisfaction which references the property, the deed book and page number where the lien is recorded in the clerk's office, as well as the owner's name, the amount owed and the person or entity who is owed the debt.
- 2). Have the debt holder sign the certificate of release, evidencing satisfaction of the debt, in front of a notary.
- 3). Hand carry or mail the certificate to the clerk's office where the property is located.
- 4). Pay to the clerk the recording fee and have the certificate recorded in the property records.
