Halifax Plantation Golf Club, Ormond Beach, Florida
The Halifax Plantation Golf Club is a semi-private, Bill Amick designed course, nestled among the old-growth oaks and pines, and natural wetlands of the Florida Atlantic coastline. Water is in play on only two of the 18 holes, but the Halifax Plantation Golf Club layout is still one of the most picturesque in the greater Daytona Beach area; it's also one of the most challenging. It's a long course, more than 7,100 yards from the back tees, but the fairwauys are, for the most-part, open with generous landing areas.
The greens are undulating and can be a little tough to read, but I found that they roll a little slow. The course is in great condition, as you would expect from a semi private facility, and the clubhouse is well staffed with a bunch of friendly folks.
The 18-hole Halifax Plantation course plays a long 7,101 yards from the tips for a par of 72. The course rating is 74.1 and it has a slope rating of 128. Designed by Bill Amick, the Halifax Plantation golf course opened for play in 1993.
Verdict: The course plays long, but the generous fairways make it a fairly romp. Twilight rates make it great value for money.
Green Fees: $65 weekdays, $39 twilight, includes golf cart; subject to change, so please check with the golf club for up to date rates.
