Bangalore also known as Bengaluru being the capital of the Karnataka is known as the Garden City. Located on the Deccan plateau in the south-eastern part of Karnataka, Bangalore is India's third most populous city and fifth most urban populous city which is ranked as Beta world city as per the studies conducted by the Globalization and World Cities Study Group and Network in the year 2008.

History:
Bangalore was ruled by Western Gangas and post the capture of Bangalore by the Cholas in 1024, Chalukya-cholas took over the reign in 1070. In 1116, the Hoysala Empire took over the Cholas and ruled over Bangalore. In 1537, the modern Bangalore was founded by Kempe Gowda I who built a brick fort and a Nandi temple near modern Bangalore. Kempegowda built the city of Bangalore and referred to it as "gandubhūmi" or "Land of Heroes".
Bangalore was divided into smaller divisions called “pete” and was divided into two main streets called Chikkapete Street and Doddapete Street, and their intersection formed was called the Doddapete Square, which forms the heart of Bangalore.
Bangalore was also referred to as "Devarāyanagara" and "Kalyānapura during the Vijayanagara rule.
