Advertisers can convey just about anything they want, and get you to believe it! Take all of those different diet pills. They will have you believe that if you just consume those, you will be skinny in no time at all! Just what is the truth about those pills, and do they really work?

There is no doubt, when you are overweight, either 10 pounds or 100 pounds, diet pills look very tempting to try. Most people think that if they take a pill, they can continue to live life the way they are.

There are no shortcuts to weight loss. By making changes in your lifestyle, your way of eating and exercising, you will see changes in your weight.

Weight loss pills have not been proven safe and effective as a means of achieving a significant amount of weight loss. They are not subject to the same rigorous standards that prescription drugs and over-the-counter drugs are by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Therefore, vendors are able to make claims about the pills based on their reviews with no authorization from the FDA. Do you want to put a substance into your body that has not met rigorous standards? Because there are not strict standards by the FDA, it is unknown how these pills will interact with so many ingredients and with other medications that you may be taking. Your best bet is to read the labels carefully and discuss any supplement that you are considering, with your doctor or pharmacist.

If you do choose to take a weight loss pill, you need to remember that it alone, is not a quick fix. You will need to consume fewer calories than you have been to lose the extra weight. You will need to pay attention to your portion sizes as well as the types of foods that you are consuming. Adding an exercise regime is also an important piece of the puzzle. It can be as simple as taking daily walks or bike rides, but it must be something physical. You need to burn more calories than you eating for optimum weight loss success.

What happens after you have been taking these pills for an extended period of time and you have reached your weight loss goal? Will you be afraid to stop taking them for fear of putting the extra weight back on? What effects have they had on your body that you are not aware of? The long-term effects may cause unknown health risks.
