Dallas, Texas, is in the central part of the state; it serves as a transition point from the forested areas of eastern Texas to the prairies in western Texas. Travelers visiting Dallas can find luxurious hotels in the city's downtown and uptown districts, but they can also stay in accommodations in Dallas suburbs, such as Grapevine and Arlington. - The historic Adolphus Hotel is a luxurious hotel in the downtown Dallas Historic District; it has been operating since 1912. The hotel was founded by beer tycoon, Adolphus Busch. It is rumored that the 19th floor of this hotel is haunted; although it now consists of guest rooms, the 19th floor was once a grand ballroom known as the Palm Garden. Fine dining is available at the hotel's French Room, which has been given a five-diamond award by AAA.
The hotel is within walking distance of Historic District attractions, including the Old Red Museum of Dallas County and the Majestic Theater, which produces dramatic works throughout the year. Historic District restaurants--such as The Joule and Fuse--are less than five minutes from the hotel. Upscale shopping at Neiman Marcus is only several blocks away from the hotel on Main Street.
