How to Fold Table Linens

    Triangle Fold

    • 1). Lay a napkin flat, good side down, so one corner is pointing toward you.

    • 2). Take the corner closet to you and bring it up to align with the opposite corner. Your square is now a triangle.

    • 3). Grab the two side corners and bring them up to meet at the top of the triangle.

    • 4). Holding all the corners together at the top, flip the napkin over. The gathered corners should now be pointing toward you.

    • 5). Fold the top corner down to meet the others. You should now see a triangle pointing down (toward you), with a fold up the middle.

    • 6). Lift the napkin by the center fold at the point farthest from you to stand it up like a pyramid. Place it on the table with the open end facing away from the diner.

    Candle Fold

    • 1). Lay napkin flat, good side down, so one corner is pointing toward you.

    • 2). Take the corner closet to you and bring it up to a point about two inches below the opposite corner.

    • 3). Flip the napkin over and fold the straight, bottom edge up by about two inches. With this fold in place, turn the napkin back over. You should have a triangle shape with two tabs flaring out at the base.

    • 4). Take one of the tabs and roll the napkin horizontally into a tube (candle). The roll should be loose enough that you can fit two fingers into the base.

    • 5). Tuck the loose tab into the fold at the candle's base.

    • 6). Set the candle with the top point centered, facing the diner, and the tucked tab facing away from the diner.
