About Mimnermus of Colophon:

Mimnermus was known as a love poet who may have written iambics as well as elegiac poetry. He wrote at least 2 books. The elegiac collections of Mimnermus include a long poem called Nanno and a Smyrneis. Most fragments of Mimnermus come from quotations. Elegy was normally accompanied by a pipe player. The work of the earliest elegists, Callinus, Tyrtaeus and Mimnermus was suitable for parties or while on military campaigns.
