How to Deal With People Who Make Fun of You Physically
- 1). Ask the people to stop if you think it will help. For instance, if it's some of your friends who are doing it, say "I really don't like it when you all make fun of the size of my feet, so please stop." True friends will probably honor your request because they value your friendship. Bullies or people who don't know you may laugh and keep doing it.
- 2). Talk to someone about what you're experiencing, such as a counselor or a family member. The person may be able to offer you some helpful advice.
- 3). Practice concealing your emotions. Ask a trusted friend or family member to say the same kinds of things to you that the people who make fun of you say. Practice keeping a straight face to keep from revealing your true emotions or practice giving some quick and humorous comebacks that you can use to surprise those who make fun of you physically.
- 4). Hold your head high and exhibit confidence, no matter what the people say to you or about you. If you start to feel uncomfortable or you think the verbal taunts will turn into physical actions, walk away.
- 5). Do something to change your appearance if you feel like it would help you feel better, but don't change your body to please others. For instance, if you have a haircut that's not particularly flattering or the glasses that you wear are too big for your face, get a more flattering cut or a new pair of frames. Yet, if you have a long nose like your father or large feet like your uncle, don't even consider trying to change. Be proud of who you are.
