It simply widens the pupil and relaxes eye muscles to have better and clear view of the same while getting examined by the eye doctor. It is not to be injected or swallowed under any circumstances and only to be used in the eyes through help of an eye dropper. The eye dropper should be clean and free from dirt. One should never touch the tip of such eye dropper as the dirt from the hands may contaminate the dropper and the solution eventually which would cause infection or irritation to the eyes. Therefore one should always make a point to properly wash the hands before using the medication. If a person uses contact lenses, he or she must remove the same before dropping the solution into their eyes. After applying the solution into the eyes through an eye dropper one should not try to blink their eyes or rub which then may hamper the normal functioning of the solution called Cychlopentolate Anticholinergics. If the solution is dropped into the eyes of an infant for medical purpose then that infant should not be fed for 4 hours after the eye examination.
If one feels irritation, blurred vision or sensitivity to light even after many days of the eye examination, he or she should consult a doctor on an immediate basis to see what wrong has happened after the usage. The drop generally takes about 24 hours to take off during which the patients or users are advised not to drive any car or go out alone in a crowded street.
When used in pediatric eye examination, it enables the ophthalmologists or optometrist to obtain a correct reading of the focusing power of the eyes. The side effects generally include disturbed vision and disorientation for few hours after the usage but no harm at all have ever been heard of.
