How to Draw Window Treatments
- 1). Select a fabric that matches or compliments the curtains on windows. You can use a bold fabric like sheer gold to compliment a rich-colored window treatment, or stick with one that will match it exactly and blend in, or try thick decorative rope.
- 2). Cut two strips from your fabric about 3 inches wide and 10 inches long. Hem all the edges by folding them over 1/2 inch and sewing them around so that your fabric becomes a thick ribbon.
- 3). Gather one side of your window treatment and pull it back from the window. Wrap your ribbon around it three-quarters of the way down from the top, and tie the ribbon tightly around the fabric. Knot in the back so that the knot is on the inside of the window treatment and not visible. Repeat with the other side. You could also tie ribbon into a bow on the front, if your prefer.
- 1). Purchase decorative curtain hooks from your home decor store that match or compliment the style of window treatment you have. For example, if you have dark, rich-colored treatments, you could get wrought iron hooks for a rustic look. Or purchase painted metal hooks to match the fabric on the windows.
- 2). Measure three-quarters of the way down on either side of your window and mark a tiny line with pencil. Place hook at this spot and move it back from the window so that the hook barely touches the edge of the window. Mark this spot on both sides to screw nails in and secure hooks to the wall.
- 3). Use small screws to screw in your hooks at the level marks you made, with the curved side of hooks facing inward. Your hooks may have come with nails or screws, and, if so, use them.
- 4). Draw back window treatments by gathering the fabric on one side of your window treatment and pulling it inside the hook on the same side to hold it back. Repeat with the opposite side of the window treatment.
