Honda Accords usually have a reputation as reliable cars; however, the 1992 Honda Accord LX is known for having some recurring problems. These issues usually relate to starting the car, including gasket issues, a defective main relay/distributor and an inability for sparks to come out of the car's spark plugs. - The main problem with the gaskets of a Honda LX lies within the valve cover gasket. This type of gasket acts as a sealant that protects the engine. Without the valve cover gasket, the engine of the Honda LX will likely become more susceptible to coolant or oil leaks.
- The main relay of a Honda Accord LX is located on the dashboard above the cruise control button. To see the main relay, you must remove the cruise control box temporarily. A cracked main relay will not be able to vent the heat generated by the car.
- Spark plugs failing to emit sparks will often result from problems with the head gasket as discussed above. A faulty head gasket can affect the performance of the entire car. If replacement of the spark plugs still doesn't yield sparks, you'll likely have to get a new head gasket as well.
