I found out about this campground through friends, and I RV camped there Labor Day Weekend 2006.

Describe your camping trip:

My husband and I are both teachers, we're not hell raisers, and yet I felt like we were treated as such. I was stopped by the manager for speeding after he thought he had seen my car pass him earlier going too fast. When I assured him that it couldn't have been me since I was leaving the campground for the first time, he argued with me and was very rude and arrogant and did so in front of my 10 year old daughter who was brought to tears.

On the final morning of our stay, our bathhouse had a line to shower so I drove over to the next loop to shower and came out to find a note on my vehicle windshield which said, "Please use bathhouse on your own loop." It was signed Mang. My vehicle had a parking tag in the window that stated which loop we were staying in. I also discovered that some children are allowed to ride electric scooters and others are not. I'm not sure what kind of crazy rule that's supposed to be. The day we left checkout is at 1 pm and at that time the manager asks us if we were leaving. We were clearly in the process of packing as you could tell by looking at our site. We acknowledged that yes we were leaving, and at 1:15 when we hadn't yet pulled out of the site he came back to tell us that we would have to pay for another day if we didn't hurry up. It was on Sunday and no one was waiting for a spot. As a matter of fact just about everyone was leaving or packing to leave the next day.

Pros: My husband and our three children loved the beauty of Twin Knobs.

It is by far one of the most beautiful places we've ever been.

Cons: But beauty isn't everything. The management is horrible and rude. While there are many friendly employees at the campground, the manager and some others are horrible.

Nearby attractions: Cave Run Lake

Further comments:

I have never been so disappointed camping. Since our stay, I've talked with many people who work in my school district that have camped at Twin Knobs for many years, and they too have had issues with the management, but they also said it wasn't always like this. One thing is for certain, there are many of us that felt like we had been released from prison when we left. When our retired friends who travel a great deal complained, I knew that it wasn't just us. Because we were made to feel like criminals, we will never stay at Twin Knobs again.
