Decorating a Kitchen With Toile

    • 1). Decorate your kitchen in a French cottage style. This look works best with toile fabrics, primarily because the prints featured are generally French-inspired. Some other features of French and cottage kitchens are neutral-colored walls in shades such as cream or yellow and ironwork accents.

    • 2). Incorporate your toile fabric into your kitchen accessories. For example, use toile in lampshades for tabletop lamps or even chandeliers. Toile tea towels, table runners, oven mitts, aprons and napkins are popular choices for French and European-inspired spaces.

    • 3). Create storage for your kitchen shelving by covering canvas storage bins with your favorite toile prints. Use a thin line of hot glue to attach your toile fabric to the canvas. These look particularly charming when displayed on open shelving or in glass-front cabinets.

    • 4). Create window treatments that feature your choice of toile fabric. Accent a sunny window with thin linen fabric that features a toile print. For a more decorative touch, use toile to create valances or roman shades. If you want to use only a touch of toile in this area, add strips of the toile fabric to already made linens. Use iron curtain pull backs to frame the window.

    • 5). Frame pieces of toile fabric to create an art feature in your kitchen. To achieve this look, simply cut your piece of fabric to the size of your frame and insert in place. To keep the fabric from sliding or bunching, attach it to the frame with spray adhesive or hot glue.
