How to Register Logos in Canada

    • 1). Complete the design of your logo and ensure that the logo you have chosen is not registered by anyone else. You can do this by conducting a trade-mark search through the Canadian Intellectual Property Office.

    • 2). File your trade-mark application through the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and pay a nonrefundable processing fee.

    • 3). Correct any issues with your application that the CIPO may bring to your attention.

    • 4). Wait to hear from the CIPO on the status of your revised application. Once approved, your logo is registered for 15 years. If you would like to use the trade mark logo in conjunction with your logo, you must pay a fee to the CIPO to do so.
