Your Options For Ovarian Cyst Removal

One option if a women has a ovarian cyst is ovarian cyst removal.
Many women that go to their doctor and find out that they have one or multiple ovarian cysts jump to the conclusion that they need to be removed due to a large amount of public discussion regarding the potential pain involved with these cysts.
It is important to know that this may not be the best option depending on the specific cyst you have.
A medical physician will be the one to make this determination.
Most ovarian cysts will go on their own, without any medical intervention, so surgical removal is not necessary.
There are several reasons why a doctor would recommend ovarian cyst removal.
Some reasons a doctor would want a cyst removed would be if the cyst is cancerous or malignant, or complex (meaning containing a large amount of solid matter).
Your doctor may also want to have a cyst removed if it is causing a large amount of pain for the patient, or it if is not going away on it's own.
There are two main procedures used to remove ovarian cysts: laparoscopic surgery and open surgery.
In laparoscopic surgery is less invasive as only a few small incisions are made and a scope is used to locate the cyst.
In open surgeries, the abdomen is opened, which a more extensive procedure and comes with more risks.
This procedure may be chosen if there is suspected cancerous tissue and more tissue may need to be removed.
It is important to remember these procedures will be needed in very specific circumstances, and rarely will be required.
They are more often than not successful and nothing to worry about.
