Build a Backyard Chicken Coop to Learn About Self Sufficiency

When I started to build a backyard chicken coop, all of my friends asked me the question, "How do you do it"? At first I thought they were referring to building a chicken coop, which my reply was that it is really easy if you have some good chicken coop building plans.
But then they told me that they were referring to raising chickens and being more self sufficient.
Being self sufficient isn't difficult at all.
Many people begin by starting their own garden, or growing a few plants.
Raising chickens really isn't that much different.
I grew up on a small farm so it isn't as intimidating to me, but there really isn't much to it.
Chickens are very easy to take care of.
I believe they are easier to care for than the average house pet.
The great thing about raising chickens is that they are an important aspect of leading a more self sufficient lifestyle.
You can feed them your left over table scraps that you would normally throw away, and you are wasting less.
You won't have to buy eggs anymore.
I have always loved having eggs for breakfast.
If you are growing your own garden or plants then you can use the chicken droppings as fertilizer.
The benefits of raising chickens are definitely more than the set backs.
There are really only a few things that you need to be concerned with.
You have to have a space to keep them in, but if you have any sort of back yard at all then you should be able to raise a few chickens with no problems at all.
They don't need a lot of space live in and they will be happy.
It is important to build a backyard chicken coop.
The benefit of having a chicken coop is that you can keep them from disappearing.
If you let them wander around freely in your backyard, they will disappear.
Sometimes they will fly over the fence into the neighbor's yard.
While chickens can't really fly well, they can get themselves up high enough in the air to get themselves over obstacles at times.
Having a chicken coop will keep them contained so you aren't chasing them all around the neighborhood.
