Look Slimmer by following these tips on how to conceal a large tummy! Advice from the world of image

You don't need to work in image consultancy to know that most women wish they had a smaller stomach.  If this is your problem then your aim when choosing clothes is to draw attention to the areas above your bust and below your hips to detract from your stomach.  Dressing to give the impression of a longer body is also effective.

The key is to choose soft, fluid fabrics that hang well and don't hug your figure since you need to go for a loose and unstructured look to avoid attention at your waistline.  Steer well clear of lycra which clings or any fabrics that are tight across your stomach.  Soft cottons, wool crepe, jersey or silks are your best option.  Wherever possible, try to buy muted and subtle patterns since anything too bold can be overpowering.  Look for garments with soft stripes, vertical lines or abstract florals.

Longer jackets and drop waistlines are very attractive on rounder body shapes as long as they drop in a simple unstructured straight line from your shoulders.  Teaming these with skirts gives a very slimming effect.  However, beware of using too much fabric and draping as this can make you look heavier than you really are.  Since your main focus is to emphasise your shoulderline, shoulder pads are invaluable because they help to balance your top half with your lower half.  Also, by emphasising your neckline with soft collars, stunning necklaces and eye-catching scarves you will be helping to divert attention away from your stomach and towards your beautifully made-up face.

Whenever you buy clothes, make sure that they fit your stomach and not your hips or you could end up with bulges of flesh coming over the top of your waistband which is not a good look.  Wear mid-rise trousers that hit the crest of your tummy cutting that area in half.  Straighter legged trousers that are flat-fronted with a side zip are great to balance things out.  Never ever wear gathered waistlines.

Dresses rather than separates are a safe choice since they do not focus on your middle.  The wrap dress is very useful if you also have a larger bust since its empire line draws attention to your top half while the rest of the dress skims gently over your hips.

Heels will always make you look taller and slimmer so the chunkier round-toed shoe styles should be avoided.  Long boots will emphasize your legs whereas shoes with ankle straps will break up your legs and make you look shorter and dumpier. If in doubt about how to look sexy, consider contacting someone who works in image consultancy.
