The Terrible Truth About Obesity

Obesity is fast becoming the biggest health concern on the globe.
In many countries it is now outdoing cancer as the number one killer.
The dictionary meaning for obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have an adverse effect on health, leading to reduced life expectancy and/or increased health problems.
Who or what is to blame for this? The answer and the truth is we are to blame for it.
This problem is increasing due to the food and lifestyle choices we have chosen to adopt.
Now is the time to stop.
Not tomorrow, not next week but now.
Act Now.
Good choices need to be made immediately so we can move towards a more positive future.
We are role models for our children and our grandchildren.
What habits are we teaching them? Are we setting them up for success or failure? What memories will we leave them? Most people believe that to lose weight you need to consume less.
This is not true.
You can eat the same quantity of food and still lose weight by simply selecting the right foods to eat.
To successfully lose weight your metabolism needs to be fired up.
The way to increase the speed at which your metabolism burns calories is by eating the right foods.
The foods that switch on your metabolism.
Fatty foods slow down the metabolism so the fats in the food actually turn to fat in your body.
When selecting foods choose the ones that work with your body not against it.
There is an abundance of incredible food out there go and find the ones that inspire you.
My five favourite foods for weight loss are:
  1. Spinach.
    This food is excellent at firing up the metabolism and lowering cholesterol at the same time.
    When it is washed well and steamed for a few minutes spinach willmaintain its colour and its nutritional value.
  2. Oranges.
    These golden marvels are packed with vitamin c and fibre and are delicious to eat.
  3. Cabbage.
    This is a tasty, versatile and filling vegetable.
    It can be used in a number of ways either cooked or raw.
    Cabbage comes in many varieties and is a great food to also keep you regular.
  4. Broccoli.
    This super vege has virtually no fat, has cancer fighting agents and is full of vitaminc.
    Cooked or raw this one is a winner.
  5. Carrots.
    The long orange veg has a lot going for it..
    It is full of vitamins and delicious.
    Try raw with low fat cream cheese.
When hungry do not reach for the bag of chips or the chocolate bar.
Sit down with a glass of water and a healthy alternative.
