What Is An Affiliate
If you are, or ever have been, considering making money on the web by starting an internet business, you have probably heard the word €affiliate€ as one way to do that. But what exactly is an affiliate, and how do they earn money?
An Affiliate is someone who gets paid a commission by a vendor when traffic they referred makes a purchase. The affiliate will get a visitor to their own website or send them an email, present them with a link to the vendors web site, and split the sales with the vendor. In fact, the affiliate often makes more than the person who created the product and actually made the sale.
The most successful affiliates have large mailing list that they have accumulated over time. They do not build web sites to sell anything. Instead they set up email address collectors all over the internet and send the list various offers and information.
Imagine if you had 100,000 people on a mailing list, you sent out one email, and 1/10th of 1 percent (.1%) of those bought the product. That would be 100 sales for sending out an email. If it was a $50 commission product, that would be $5,000 profit in a single email. But I am getting ahead of myself. I wanted to illustrate just how much money a good affiliate can make.
Most struggling affiliates don't have time to build a list. They don't have the time write the emails. They don't have time do anything but try to get traffic to their review site, and hope they get a few sales every now and then from their efforts. They have to work constantly to see any results, and the results slow to a trickle if they do stop.
They do that because there is so much incorrect information available it inevitably leads to confusion. They have no plan for success. They take one tip from here, another from there, and end up with weak parts to an nonintegrated system that makes nothing for them.
Believe it or not, there are many very good blueprints available that will show you many different but similar ways to make money as an affiliate. Most people have seen them, then just disregard them as BS. The reason for that is simple. They are marketed as get rich quick schemes and scams. A normal person dismisses such things rather than looking to find the real benefits of having it.
An affiliate is someone who directs traffic on the internet, sends it to a different place, and shares the profits with those who have something to sell. It is a great way to make extra money, and even build a solid foundation to make a fortune if you do it right and do it long enough.
I know from personal experience that you can waste years trying to learn how to do everything you need to do as an affiliate. To cut time off of that learning curve, I recommend you invest in one of those get rich quick products and follow it to the letter. I have never seen one that would not make money if the person would only follow the directions.
The problem for many is that they want to get paid now for the work they do now. In affiliate marketing, the pay doesn't come until well after the work is done. But when it starts coming, it will continue coming even after you have moved on to something else.
If you are willing to jump in and start working, even knowing the pay will be weeks or months coming, then you will be a good affiliate and employee for your company. Once you see the sales start to come in, you will be so motivated your spouse will have to pry you away from the computer.
