How to: Counterfeit Detector Pen
- 1). Place a piece of United States currency on a flat counter or other smooth work surface.
- 2). Remove the top from the counterfeit detector pen.
- 3). Place the tip of the pen on the currency and make a small mark across the surface.
- 4). Wait up to 30 seconds for the chemical in the detector pen to work.
- 5). Read the results of the detector pen test. Observe the currency for the pen mark to remain clear or turn amber in color to indicate the currency is genuine. Look for the mark to turn dark brown or black, indicating the currency is counterfeit.
