Red Rock Resort in a Nutshell

Red Rock Resort in a Nutshell

A breathtakingly modern resort, Red Rock is a 15-minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip and close to the Red Rock mountain range. This setting gives it the destination feel of a retreat, with ample Vegas glamour of its own.

While Red Rock indeed features a bustling casino, overnight guests have a hotel-only entrance and are not bombarded with gambling action.

This resort is frequently honored with prestigious tourism awards such as Four Diamonds from AAA and a berth on Condé Nast Traveler's "Hot List." It offers what the finest Las Vegas Strip hotels do: ravishing and comfortable rooms, a vast casino, enticing pools, top-shelf restaurants, a sleek spa and gym, in-house entertainment, and excellent service.

Red Rock handles its share of destination weddings for couples who like the idea of Vegas nuptials off the Strip. And it is an inspired choice for a honeymoon.

However, twosomes who envision a Vegas honeymoon imbued with Strip excitement will not find that here. The focus of a Red Rock honeymoon will be on you two and what goes on in and near your luscious suite.

Some couples who choose Red Rock for a honeymoon or romantic getaway book a few calming days here before or after a Strip wedding or hotel stay. This approach serves up the best of Vegas.

Red Rock Resort Guest Rooms

Red Rock is visually enchanting. As realtors say, "no expense was spared." Red Rock's glittering chandeliers are composed not of glass but of cascades of Swarovski crystals. And the casino's back-lit, translucent bars and walls are not plastic resin but wafer-thin sheets of marble.

The resort's 800-plus rooms claim one of two riveting views: the sparkling Strip or the snow-capped Red Rock Mountains.

Digs range from standard rooms of 525 square feet to rambling one- and two-bedroom suites to spectacular penthouse suites, preferred by Red Rock performers and their entourages.

Standard but sumptuous room features include a 42" HDTV and a bathroom TV, a Bose radio-CD-iPod player; his-and-hers sinks, closets, robes and slippers; couples-sized whirlpool tub and mosaic-tiled rainshower; safe, minibar, and bar nook with sink and fridge. There's no coffee-maker, but the VIP lobby dispenses java and sodas gratis. (VIP status is granted to the likes of repeat visitors and newlyweds.)

Couples sleep well at Red Rock. Its high-end king beds are handsomely outfitted, and opaque window shades block out the blazing desert sun. A red/green door light conveys "do not disturb" to maids and butlers. Thickly carpeted corridors are quiet.

A modest daily resort fee covers wi-fi, gym entry, and airport, Strip shuttles, a daily paper, and complimentary shoe shines. A business center offers PC use and other services.

The casino, spa, gym, restaurants, and pools are set a momentary walk from guest rooms. Self-parking is likewise convenient to rooms, and free of charge.

Dining at Red Rock

Restaurants at Red Rock Resort

Red Rock guests who confine their dining to the resort's superlative in-house eateries will experience a fair share of Vegas kitchen fireworks.

Red Rock has nine full-service restaurants, with three headliners. Hachi is a stylish Japanese spot. Its globally influenced, mainly sushi menu is masterminded by Linda Rodriguez, a gifted protégée of Nobu Matsuhisa.

More masculine in feeling, T-bones Chophouse and Lounge features oversized, dry-aged prime steaks, bone-in rib cuts, fresh seafood, and an extensive wine list.

If you've never had a Kobe beef burger, T-bones' scrumptious version will set the bar high.

Terra Rossa Italian Restaurant offers authentic dishes including deliciously sauced house-made pasta. Its sunny Tuscan environment is enhanced by a vast wine list.

Other Red Rock dining options include LBS: A Burger Joint; Cabo Cantina; the 24-hour Grand Café; Yard House, with 130 beers on tap; Feast Buffet; Bagel Café; and a poolside snack bar. A food court offers Fatburger, Panda Express, Villa Pizza, Ben & Jerry's, and more.

Rocks Lounge, Onyx Bar, Sand Bar, and Lucky Bar shake up carefully composed cocktails day and night. Cherry Nightclub is as renowned for its food and drinks as for its sound and light system.

A room-service menu is available 24 hours a day. During their regular hours, Red Rock restaurants deliver delectables to hungry lovebirds' nests.

Marrying at Red Rock

Destination Weddings and Romance at Red Rock Resort

A Vegas destination wedding at Red Rock is likely to be less distracting and more private than Strip nuptials. This resort's setting just outside Vegas trains the spotlight back on the couple.

Red Rock's distinctive off-Strip personality creates unique Vegas weddings with custom options. On-staff event planners assist couples at every step, extending available promotions, packages, and group rates.

Marriage vows may be exchanged anywhere at Red Rock, from designer suites to the hotel's bowling alley.

Venue options for receptions, lunches, and other shindigs include mountain-view banquet rooms, ballrooms, alluring eateries, and private pool patios and cabanas. Wedding-day photo ops are as endless as Red Rock's glowing horizon.

Knot-tiers are automatically accorded a lovely one-bedroom suite with views galore, a whirlpool tub built for two, and cushy king bed. Nevertheless, couples intent on blowout weddings are urged to investigate Red Rock's dazzling penthouse suites.

I-doers have the services of a dedicated concierge at their disposal and are treated to romantic touches such as flowers and Champagne.

Just-married enticements outside the honeymoon suite include spa treatments for two, private pool cabanas, and side-by-side perches at Red Rock's restaurants, clubs, and blackjack tables.

Things to Do at Red Rock Resort

Red Rock is an entertainment mecca with a plethora of activities for guests as well as Vegas residents. There is no ongoing show, but a rotation of headliners play Red Rock's indoor and outdoor concert venues. Past audiences have grooved to Sting, John Legend, Nelly Furtado, Joe Cocker, and Lauryn Hill.

The resort's vast casino beckons day and night. Another centerpiece of Red Rock is its four-acre Sandbar Pool Backyard, featuring multiple pools for swimming and splashing, plenty of chaise lounges, private cabanas, and "cabeds." Naturally, guests will also find a pool bar and poolside gaming tables.

By night, the pool area is transformed into an entertainment stage.

The resort's 8,500-square-foot, indoor-outdoor Cherry Nightclub features celebrity DJs, hand-mixed cocktails, and a state-of-the-art sound and light system. Other on-property party venues include Rocks Lounge, Onyx Bar, Sand Bar and Lucky Bar.

Red Rock Lanes, an in-house bowling alley with a nightclub vibe, has 72 lanes, a lounge, and a VIP Suite. It is the annual venue for the PBA Tournament of Champions.

A 16-screen Regal Cinemas movie theater spools the latest Hollywood releases. Private boxes are available.

Red Rock's spa offers an "Adventure Spa" program that invites guests to explore the resort's naturally dramatic Red Rock Canyon setting. Options include hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, horseback riding, wildlife watching, kayaking, and Jeep tours. Golf rounds and Grand Canyon visits can also be arranged.

The Las Vegas Strip's temptations are a free shuttle ride away. Shopping devotees should know that the Red Rock shuttle pulls into the Fashion Show Mall.

Room for Improvement?

What Could be Better atRed Rock Resort

Las Vegas's best hotels do everything right, earning their prestige. Red Rock is amongst these.

There is very little to fault at this stunning modern resort. The management does not cut corners. Everything supplied here is absolutely top-shelf. Your room's Essentiel Elements toiletries are exotically spice-scented, your bed linens skin-caressingly silky. Your pool chaise is comfy, your pre-dinner martini expertly mixed.

The staff is engaging and effective.

The little annoyances that can plague even the most exclusive hotels - maids chit-chatting loudly in hallways, audibly rumbling ice machines, tinny room phones, lines at check-in - are absent here.

What could be upgraded? Not much. For one thing, green-minded guests should be given the option not to squander precious Nevada water by having all their sheets and towels laundered and replaced daily.

Red Rock's shuttle service to and from the Strip and to and from the airport is a gracious customer-service touch. However, it should be noted that Strip shuttle service terminates quite prematurely around 9pm, and a Vegas taxi back to Red Rock is costly. Renting a car will furnish more flexibility to guests who plan on visiting the Strip at night.

But these are trivial cavils. Red Rock Resort is not only close to the Vegas Strip. It is close to perfect.

Is Red Rock Resort Right for You?

The key nugget of information when considering Red Rock for a Las Vegas honeymoon or romantic getaway is its location. This resort is set in a tranquil, less-developed area 15 to 20 minutes from the Strip.

This fact makes Red Rock an unpromising choice for couples hell-bent on nonstop Strip revelry. All the same, the excitement of the Strip is readily available via free Red Rock shuttle or by a guest's own rental car.

Red Rock offers everything the Strip does, but in concentrated, under-one-roof form: a casino, top-notch restaurants, bars, nightclubs, entertainment, and even some mall-style shopping.

Families with children and spring-breakers seem to steer clear of Red Rock, a relief to romantic visitors seeking a haven of grown-up serenity.

For travelers who are sensitive to the aesthetics of their environments, Red Rock will prove as sensually gratifying as the Strip's most lavish hotels.

This visually exquisite contemporary casino resort captures the best of both Vegas worlds: desert and dazzle. Its setting beyond the Strip refocuses the action on you and your partner.

For stylish off-Strip romance, Red Rock Resort is about as close as it gets to a sure-thing bet in Vegas. If being close to, but not on, the Las Vegas Strip seems an ideal solution to Strip overload, then Red Rock will represent no compromise at all.
