How to Compare Athens Hotels

    • 1). Compare only hotels that fall within close proximity to the area you intend to stay and tour.

    • 2). Compare hotel websites and travel sites. Look at direct sites like Hilton.com, or other major hotels in the area. Then compare travel booking sites like Orbitz, Expedia, or HotWire. Discount travel sites will usually let you do a side-by-side comparison of hotels.

    • 3). Visit the local tourism site for Athens. Sites such as AthensGuide.org, Greece-Athens.com or IExploreGreece.com contain information about where hotels are located in relation to historical sites, famous restaurants and other entertainment.

    • 4). Compare additional fees. Sometimes rates quoted online only include the actual overnight cost. Make sure there are no surcharges for parking and TV, or unexpected taxes, that will be added to your bill.

    • 5). Compare amenities. Check out the bathrooms, swimming pools, availability of room service or spa packages, that may come with your overnight stay.

    • 6). Compare special discounts. Often hotels will offer discounts for AARP or AAA members, certain businesses and members of the military. Look into redeeming your Sky Miles for upgrades.

    • 7). Compare pricing. When using travel booking sites the currency will automatically be converted for you, but if you visit the site directly the currency may not. Use an online currency converter like XE.com, to ensure you know how much you are paying.
