Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park

• Located in the northern part of Chicago, Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park is 2 miles long from Dempster Street to Touhy Avenue. The park is open year round and admission is free. The park features sculptures that were made by local, national and international artists. Children are often fascinated by the sculptures, and may enjoy taking a free group tour, picnicking or simply taking a walk through the park. See Resources for hours of operation.
  
  

Buckingham Fountain

• The Buckingham Fountain is one of Chicago's most popular attractions. One of the largest fountains in the world, it is located in Grant Park on the corner of Columbus Drive and Congress Parkway. Admission to the park is free. The fountain runs from morning to night every day. Streams of water shoot out of the fountain at 150 feet high. During the evening, the fountain displays lights and music.
  
  

Lincoln Park Zoo

• The Lincoln Park Zoo is just minutes away from downtown Chicago, located off Lake Shore Drive. This zoo features a sea lion pool, flamingo habitat, a primate house and many other animal exhibits. There is also a large carousel that accommodates up to 50 riders. Admission to the zoo is free; however, there is a charge for parking if you choose to park in the zoo's parking area. Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum

• The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum offers many attractions that children will enjoy. They can walk along the bridge outside and look at a wide variety of plants and animals. There are many different nature exhibits as well as a gift shop and cafe. Walk through the museum's large greenhouse, which includes more than 75 different species of butterflies. Admission is free.
