The Super Hunk Suriya Sets the Trend in Kollywood Films

Suriya is a contemporary Indian film actor who stars in Tamil films and has quickly established himself in the film industry and won three Film fare Award s as well as three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. Suriya began his acting career with the film, Nerrukku Ner that was produced by Mani Ratnam and directed by Vasanth. His claim to fame began when he first acted as an ex-convict in Nandha, directed by Bala, earning him the first Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor.

Surya is well known for playing dual roles in his career. He is able to carry off the role of a father and then the son and the scenes depict him as 16 years old, as also an old man who is 65 year old. He is an emotional actor, who works hard to perfect himself for the role he is playing to the extent that he undergoes a perfect fitness regime to look fit when he takes on a role that calls for a particular body. His movies have been acclaimed as "out and out Suriya shows!"

Ayan proved to be a best-seller, in 2009, where the action-thriller became the highest grossing Tamil film of the year. He plays the role of a smuggler with Tamannaah Bhatia, the lead actress. Suriya perfected some stunts, without using a double in this movie, which was shot in Namibia, Tanzanie, India and Malaysia. The next highest grossing Tamil film in which he acted was Singham, where his role as a police offer, got him accolades for his commendable acting skills.
Suriya is an ambassador for many leading enterprises such as Aircel, TVS and Sunfeast Biscuits. He also has signed up with Close-Up toothpaste, Zandu-Balm and Nescafe. He is also a philanthropist who is interested in helping poverty stricken children. Towards this end, he founded the Agaram Foundation in 2008, so that he could help children who were drop-outs from school. Agaram provides opportunities to the rural population so that they can qualify with their education and learn how to eliminate social evils. Suriya is actively involved in the "Save the Tigers" campaign and "REACH," which is also a non-profit organizations that provides free medication for TB patients.

The actor Suriya is now busy with his latest movie Maatraan, which he has been looking forward to and has no time to display his newly-acquired skills of juggling and walking the trapeze. Though he has many offers to act in Hindi films, he prefers to continue acting as the Kollywood hunk, in Tamil films.
